2021 ANNUAL MEETING: CHICAGO AND VIRTUAL

CHICAGO: NOVEMBER 17-20
VIRTUAL: DECEMBER 9-12[/vc_column_text][mk_divider][vc_column_text]ASOR’s 2021 Annual Meeting will have both in-person and virtual components. The in-person component will take place November 17-20 at the Hilton Chicago in downtown Chicago. The virtual component will take place online December 9-12.

ASOR members may propose sessions and workshops for either or both components through January 15.  The proposal form and full details can be found in the 2021 Call for Member-Organized Session and Workshop Proposals. The Call for Papers will be open from February 15 to March 15 and members can choose to if they would like to submit their research for in-person presentation in Chicago or for the virtual component.

Registration is open and one rate will give you access to both components.

Scholarships are available: Due to COVID-19, and thanks to ASOR’s generous members, all current ASOR members with a need may request a 25%, 50%, or full scholarship for annual meeting registration. E-mail programs@asor.org with requests. We are committed to meeting 100% of requests from members. We will do our best to meet requests from non-members.

Meeting safely and providing diverse and inclusive options for participation are our top priorities. Our 2020 Virtual Annual Meeting showed us that it is possible provide an online platform for global scholars to connect, engage, and share their research. We are committed to expanding our online resources and look forward to continuing this work as part of the 2021 Annual Meeting.

We look forward to meeting together in Chicago this November and to seeing you online in December!

The Lawrence T. Geraty Community Archaeology Endowment was established last year at the American Schools of Oriental Research (ASOR), based in Alexandria, Virginia. The main purpose of the endowment is to prevent damage to excavation sites in the Middle East and spur local ownership of cultural heritage while creating economic opportunity. Geraty, the endowment’s namesake, is a past president of ASOR, president emeritus of La Sierra University, and a long-time archaeologist who co-founded the Madaba Plains Project (MPP), a collection of three major excavation sites in Jordan—Tall Hisban, Tall Jalul, and Tall al-‘Umayri.

If you would like to make a donation to the Lawrence T. Geraty Community Archaeology Endowment, please use this link and select Geraty Endowment Fund from the drop-down menu.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column border_color=”rgba(170,170,170,0.01)” width=”1/6″ css=”.vc_custom_1496684098866{margin-right: 5px !important;margin-bottom: 20px !important;border-right-width: 2px !important;border-bottom-width: 2px !important;padding-top: 30px !important;padding-right: 10px !important;padding-left: 10px !important;background-color: #ffffff !important;border-right-color: rgba(227,228,228,0.75) !important;border-bottom-color: rgba(227,228,228,0.75) !important;}”][vc_wp_posts title=”BROWSE THE NEWS ARCHIVE” number=”4″][/vc_column][vc_column border_color=”rgba(170,170,170,0.01)” width=”1/6″ css=”.vc_custom_1496684008271{margin-right: 10px !important;margin-bottom: 30px !important;border-right-width: 2px !important;border-bottom-width: 2px !important;padding-top: 30px !important;padding-right: 20px !important;padding-left: 20px !important;background-color: #ffffff !important;border-right-color: rgba(227,228,228,0.75) !important;border-bottom-color: rgba(227,228,228,0.75) !important;}”][vc_column_text] [/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
