Excavation Scholarships
Help ASOR continue to publish its peer-reviewed journals: Bulletin of ASOR, Near Eastern Archaeology, Journal of Cuneiform Studies, and Maarav.
Project Grants
Support ASOR’s work protecting and preserving the cultural heritage of the Middle East and North Africa—especially in conflict zones where heritage is most at risk.
ASOR awards grants ranging from $2,500 to $10,000 (with a preference for smaller grants $5,000 or less) to projects to carry out emergency conservation or stabilization activities at archaeological sites in the wider Mediterranean and Middle Eastern regions.
ASOR will award small grants to support projects that will incentivize local engagement with protection, preservation, and presentation of archaeological sites in Jordan, starting with Madaba Plains Project sites.
The Stevan B. Dana Project Fund provides modest annual grants to worthy field projects that are ASOR-affiliated, particularly to newer and smaller projects, to help them get started, and to discrete components of larger projects that can be completed with an award. Funds may be use to purchase a piece of equipment or to pay for a discrete smaller initiative. The grant also may provide support for off-season research and/or analysis. Three Dana Grants of $5,000 will be awarded in 2026.
The Stevan B. Three Dana Grants of $5,000 will be awarded in 2026.
ASOR plans to award two Harris Grants of $5,000 each during 2026. The Harris Endowment provides modest grants to worthy projects that are ASOR-affiliated, particularly to newer and smaller projects, to help them get started, and to discrete components of larger projects that can be completed with an award.
The Seger Endowment provides modest grants to worthy field projects that are ASOR-affiliated, particularly to newer and smaller projects, to help them get started, and to discrete components of larger projects that can be completed with an award. The endowment funds are intended both to support a particular need for an archaeological project and to help the PI and the project secure matching funds. ASOR plans to award two Seger Grants of $2,500 each in 2026.
