Propose a Session or Workshop

New Member-Organized Session and Workshop Proposal Form (Posts December 15)

Deadline for session and workshop proposals is January 15, 2026

ASOR members may propose member-organized sessions for papers around a specific topic or site, or member-organized workshops that minimize formal presentation (maximum length of 10 minutes) in favor of open discussion or activity. Sessions and workshops may be approved for up to 3 years and may accommodate both invited presenters as well as proposals from ASOR members through open call (with the approval of the session chair).

Proposals should include a session/workshop title, description, and a list of at least four potential speakers, indicating the subject of their presentation. Multi-year proposals should indicate a different theme or planned focus for each subsequent year. Proposals will be evaluated by the Program Committee based on the interest of the proposal itself, but also based on potential overlap with ASOR Standing Sessions and with existing Member-Organized Sessions. View the 2026 List of Approved Sessions and Workshops (Coming Soon) to see what is already being offered on the 2026 Academic Program.

The Program Committee may need to take measures to manage the size and scope of the academic program. Member-Organized Sessions may be limited to a maximum of 2 time-slots on the program (10 papers max). Workshops are limited to 1 time-slot (10 participants max, though fewer is encouraged). Sessions in honor of a specific individual may be proposed for 1 year only and, if approved, allotted 1 time-slot on the academic program.
