ASOR Sets Goal of Twenty $2,000 Awards
Deadline for Applications: February 15th
[/vc_column_text][mk_image src=”https://www.asor.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/fellowships.png” image_width=”700″ image_height=”700″ crop=”false” hover=”false”][vc_column_text]In 2007, ASOR renewed its emphasis on providing fellowships for individuals participating in excavations in the Eastern Mediterranean. Since 2007, ASOR has awarded 361 fellowships and excavation grants. Because of rising travel and accommodation costs, ASOR increased the dollar amount of excavation fellowships for 2016 to $2,000 each. Previously, most fellowships were $1,000 each.
ASOR is extremely grateful to our many donors who have made these fellowships possible. Each year we have individual donors who support an entire fellowship through a Heritage Fellowship gift. Our membership also contributes generously throughout the year and especially during March Fellowship Madness, and these gifts result in an additional $6,000 to $8,000 of support. Finally, but certainly not least, over the last four years we have dramatically increased the number of endowment funds that support fellowships: MacAllister, Meyers, Meyers/Wright, Platt, Sheeler, or Strange/Midkiff.
- Deadline for all applications is February 15, 2016.
Eligibility requirements. You must meet one of the following criteria in order to apply:
- You are an ASOR member (any membership category); or
- You are a student currently enrolled at an ASOR-member institution; or
- You are an undergraduate member. For 2016, ASOR is offering a special undergraduate membership with online subscriptions for only $29.95 (proof of undergraduate status required).
