Hotel Reservations: The hotel for the 2014 ASOR Annual Meeting is The Westin San Diego (400 West Broadway, San Diego, CA 92101). The Westin is centrally located in the heart of downtown near the city's major attractions with a variety of shopping and dining options nearby. The hotel is a short walk from the Gas Lamp Quarter, Little Italy, and the Harbor District.
ASOR Guest Room Rates:
$139 per room per night (plus taxes), single/double occupancy
$159 per room per night (plus taxes), triple occupancy
$179 per room per night (plus taxes), quadruple occupancy
Make your room reservations online or by calling the hotel (1-888-627-9033) and asking for the "American Schools of Oriental Research" room block.
Please reserve your room early! We encourage all attendees to make hotel reservations as early as possible. Please also note that hotel reservations and conference registration are separate - make sure that you have both registered for the Annual Meeting and made your hotel reservation.
Complimentary airport shuttle service is provided between the San Diego Airport and The Westin for hotel guests. For more information on this service and general directions to the hotel, please visit Transportation page of the Westin's website.
Child Care: ASOR cannot make recommendations for childcare providers, but we have received from the Westin the following names of two organizations who are affiliate members of the San Diego Concierge Association: Marion's Child Care and Munchkin Minders. The Westin concierge informed us that guests have used these groups in the past and have had positive experiences.
City Information: Located on the Pacific Ocean in Southern California, San Diego is the second-largest city in the state. It is known for its ideal climate, impressive beaches, and several tourist attractions, which include Old Town, the SeaWorld theme park, and the San Diego Zoo. The city sits just north of the Mexican border, across from Tijuana. Downtown San Diego serves as a hub of business and entertainment with plenty of restaurants, shops, and nightlife to take in, as well as attractions such as museums and the San Diego Padres baseball team. Sites of interest near the hotel include the San Diego Convention Center, Seaport Village, Little Italy, the Gas Lamp Quarter, the Maritime Museum of San Diego, and Balboa Park.
