ASOR 2010 Annual Meeting

Call for Papers and Sessions and Program Guidelines
III. New Member-Organized Session Proposals and New Workshop Session Proposals
A. Introduction
The program committee invites proposals for new academic Member-Organized Sessions and new Workshop Sessions that focus on special topics. Normally, new Member-Organized Sessions and new Workshop Sessions will have a life-span of three years, with the option of renewing for a second three-year term. Workshop sessions are intended to allow more intimate conversation and collaboration for those working on new projects, archaeological publications, etc., than is possible in traditional academic Member-Organized Sessions. Individuals interested in organizing new Member-Organized Sessions and new Workshop Sessions are encouraged first to contact the co-chairs of the program committee (Andrew M. Smith II and Elise A. Friedland). Please note that new session proposals are far more likely to be accepted, if they are submitted with a slate of speakers already scheduled for the first year.
Deadline for submission of new Member-Organized Session Proposals and new Workshop Session Proposals is December 14, 2009. Applications must be complete and thorough in order to be considered.
B. Format for New Member-Organized Session Proposals and New Workshop Session Proposals
New Member-Organized Session Proposals and new Workshop Session Proposals must be submitted online via the ASOR New Member-Organized/Workshop Session Form. If you have any problems with this form, please email the program committee co-chairs (Andrew M. Smith II and Elise A. Friedland).
Prospective session chairs will be asked to submit the following information.
- Whether the proposed session is a MEMBER-ORGANIZED SESSION or a WORKSHOP SESSION.
- Proposed NAME OF SESSION
- A STATEMENT OF THE AIMS of the session and a brief synopsis of these aims. The statement must include the reasons for such a session and how the individual presentations will relate to one other.
- NAMES, ADDRESSES, PHONE NUMBERS, AND PERTINENT BIBLIOGRAPHIES (or achievements) of the proposed session chair(s) and statement of commitment by the proposed session chair(s) to serve as the liaison with the program committee, coordinate the session’s annual program, keep appropriate records, and complete session evaluation forms in a timely manner.
- Statement that prospective chairs have reviewed the Instructions for Session Chairs on the annual meeting web page that familiarizes session chairs with instructions for final submission of materials and the information that will be needed from the presenters and chairs.
