Special Events at the 2005 Annual Meeting - Friday

Friday Evening Banquet and Lecture
"An Evening of Mediterranean Digs and Delights"

Friday, Nov. 18, 2005. Upper Egypt Gallery, University of Pennsylvania Museum

7:30pm Banquet featuring Mediterranean cuisine

8:30pm Lecture by Dr. William Dever (University of Arizona, emeritus), "Stories of Great Archaeologists and What Makes Them Tick"

This will be an evening to remember. The banquet will feature Mediterranean cuisine, enjoyed in the grand hall of the Upper Egypt Gallery at the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology. The evening speaker, Dr. William Dever, is widely known for his sometimes controversial stands on archaeological issues and the Bible. He has written extensively on topics like biblical archaeology, the ancient Israelites, gods and goddesses in biblical times. And he has been around the field long enough to know the best stories about archaeological pioneers and can tell them in unforgettable fashion.

Dever will sign copies of his book "Did God Have a Wife?" which appeared in summer 2005. Copies of the book will be available for purchase at the event.

Admission to the banquet and lecture (combined) is $75. Places are still available, but we are no longer accepting online reservations. Either fax a form with your credit card number to 617-353-6575 or call our office by 4pm Tuesday November 15th at 617-353-6570 for a credit card payment. If you prefer to pay by check or in person at the meeting, visit the ASOR Registration Desk at the Hyatt Penn's Landing between 4 and 7pm on Wednesday, November 16th to make your reservation. No reservations will be taken past 7pm Wednesday. Remember to indicate whether you would prefer a lamb or a vegetarian dinner.
