Housing

Accommodations are at the Boston Marriott Cambridge, Two Cambridge Center, Cambridge, MA 02142; tel. (617) 494-6600; fax. (617) 494-6565. In order to receive the special Annual Meeting room rate of $119, your reservation must go through Academy International Travel, Atlanta, GA, Fax: (404) 633-7865. A housing form is available on the web [no longer available].

When making your travel arrangements, please keep in mind that ASOR has negotiated free meeting room space and special room rates in exchange for fulfilling a contracted number of room nights with the hotel. If we do not meet this obligation, ASOR will be charged for the meeting rooms. By staying at the Boston Marriott Cambridge, you will be helping to keep meeting costs affordable for everyone!

Cancellations or Changes

Hotel accommodation questions, changes and cancellations should be directed to Academy International Travel, Inc. until October 15, 1998. After this date, please contact the hotel directly (Tel. 617-494-6600; Fax: 617-494-0036). Note that cancellations must be received at least 72 hours prior to arrival date.

 

Transportation

Air Transportation

Special airfares have been negotiated by Academy International Travel, Inc. with Delta Airlines. 5% discount off lowest published domestic fares round trip on Delta are available. Special zone fares that do not require a Saturday night overnight are also available. To receive the discount, your travel arrangements must be made through Academy International Travel Service, Inc., 1832 Century Place, Suite 105, Atlanta, GA 30345, USA. Tel. Ground Transportation

Ground transportation from the airport to area hotels is provided 24 hours a day by US Shuttle (Tel. 781-894-3100). The fee is $11 per person. Taxis are also an option at approximately $20 for the trip to the Marriott.

 

Registration

On-site Registration

The registration desk will be located on the second floor of the Boston Marriott Cambridge's Conference Center. All preregistrants will also need to come to the registration desk to receive their registration packets. Registration hours are as follows:

Wed. 17 Nov ... 3:00pm to 6:30pm
Thursday 18 Nov ... 8:00am to 5:30pm
Friday 19 Nov ... 8:00am to 5:30pm
Saturday 20 Nov ... 8:00am to 2:00pm

 

Preregistration Savings

Save up to $20 and avoid on-site registration lines by preregistering for the meeting. 1999 dues must be paid on or by the October 1 deadline to preregister at the member rate. Complete the enclosed preregistration form (p. 26) and return it with your fee to the address listed on the form, or go to the electronic form online.

 

Registration Benefits

Your $90 registration fee entitles you to participate in all the academic sessions, the Annual Meeting Grand Reception on Wednesday evening, and the Plenary Session. In addition, a coffee break will be provided to all registered conference participants free of charge.

Refunds

All refunds must be requested in writing by November 12, 1999. A $25 administrative fee for members and non-members and a $20 administrative fee for students will be assessed per registration.

Registration Packets

Registration Packets will be available from the registration desk on the second floor of the Boston Marriott Cambridge and will include your name tag(s), the updated Annual Meeting At-A-Glance schedule and any other pertinent information.

ASOR Membership

Membership in ASOR is required of all presenters, presiders and respondents in the Annual Meeting. If you are participating in the Annual Meeting and have not yet joined, a membership form is available on the web at http://www.asor.org/ASOR-memb.html.

 

Publications

Abstract Book

The ASOR Annual Meeting Abstract Book is available on-line at www.asor.org/AM/99abstracts.htm. Printed copies will be mailed to preregistrants and other interested persons for the price of postage. To obtain a printed copy, contact the ASOR office at 656 Beacon Street, 5th floor, Boston, MA 02215-2010. Additional copies will be available at the registration table.

Annual Meeting At-A-Glance

Designed for convenience, this pocket-sized publication will include a complete up-to-date listing of the times and locations for all Annual Meeting sessions, including changes and additions made after the Program Book has been printed. Your free copy will be inside your registration packet at the registration desk in the lobby of the Orlando Renaissance Hotel-Airport.

 

$4,000 Needed to Match Lindstrom Grant

ASOR members are encouraged to contribute support to the Lindstrom Foundation as match monies for the Foundation's $2000 grant for Student Service Scholarships at the Annual Meeting. Each $2 contributed will be matched by $1 of Lindstrom funds in support of ASOR Student Service awards. Donations should be sent directly to the Lindstrom Foundation office at 2128 Alvarado St., San Leandro, CA 94577. Monies received will be used to provide scholarships of up to $500 each for students who agree to provide 20 hours of service at the 1999 Annual Meeting in Cambridge, MA.
